What should a new client know about working with you?

My Approach My approach to therapy is client-centered, placing your voice, experiences, and goals at the heart of our work together. I prioritize creating a safe and supportive environment where your needs guide the direction of our sessions. With empathetic listening, I strive to actively hear and validate your feelings, ensuring you always feel understood. Therapy is a partnership; together, we will explore your concerns and co-create strategies that align with your personal goals and life experiences. Therapy Style I utilize an integrative therapy style, adapting a wide range of techniques tailored to your specific needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and psychodynamic therapy. My focus is strengths-based, helping you leverage your inherent resilience to navigate and overcome challenges. We will set clear, actionable goals to measure your progress, ensuring we celebrate milestones and continually assess your growth. Session Structure Your privacy is my top priority; everything shared during our sessions remains confidential, within the boundaries of the law. Sessions typically last 50 minutes, but I am flexible and can adjust the duration to accommodate your specific needs. I welcome and encourage regular feedback to ensure our sessions are productive and aligned with your expectations. Expectations I ask that you approach our work with openness and honesty, as this fosters more effective therapy. This space is free of judgment, allowing you to share openly. Commitment to the process is crucial; therapy is a journey that requires time and dedication, and consistent participation is key to achieving meaningful progress. Throughout this process, I encourage you to practice self-compassion. Healing and growth take effort, but the results can be profoundly rewarding.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The journey to healing often begins with a simple conversation. When you first reach out, we can have a brief chat over the phone or via email about your reasons for seeking therapy and any immediate concerns you may have. Together, we’ll find a suitable time for our initial session, setting the stage for a meaningful connection. During our first meeting, which lasts about 60 to 90 minutes, we’ll delve into your personal history and current challenges, exploring the goals you hope to achieve through our work together. This foundational session is a safe space where I can understand your background and aspirations, ensuring we are aligned as we embark on this journey. In our subsequent sessions, I will conduct a thorough assessment of various aspects of your life, from your mental health symptoms to your relationships and relevant medical history. Once we have a clear picture, we will collaboratively establish specific, measurable goals for therapy. These goals will act as a guiding map, helping us track your progress and celebrate your victories along the way. Crafting a personalized treatment plan uniquely tailored to your needs. This plan will outline the therapeutic approaches we’ll explore, the frequency of our sessions, and any additional tools or resources that may enhance your experience. Our regular sessions will typically last around 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or bi-weekly, based on your availability and therapeutic needs. Each session will focus on the issues we’ve identified, creating a space for you to express yourself and work through your challenges. To support your growth, I draw upon a variety of therapeutic techniques. Together, we may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help identify and reframe negative thought patterns, mindfulness techniques to manage stress, psychodynamic therapy to explore how past experiences shape your present, and solution-focused therapy to find practical ways to address your current challenges.
