Getting to know Cassandra Huckleberry

It is my honor and responsibility to hold a safe, comfortable space for the diverse population of clients that I work with, starting from early childhood and forward. I see the strength in my clients, and I am here to help you develop and utilize those strengths in order to work towards a positive outcome. With a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University and a Bachelor’s degree from Grand Canyon University, I hope to contribute my skills, education, and experience to encourage you as you move towards wellness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am here to provide a safe space, a listening ear, and an understanding heart. I understand the difficulty and am dedicated to helping my clients overcome the shame of mental health stigma and normalize prioritizing one's healing and self-care. There is so much courage in coming to counseling. Whether by a significant event or day-to-day challenges, life has brought you to reach out for help. I invite you to take the first step and make the call. As for the rest of the steps, we'll take them together. I offer help with a particular emphasis on disordered eating, relationships, mood, and anxiety.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients might say I am caring and validating, but genuine. I allow the client to lead the session and chime in with feedback throughout the session. We use the first few sessions to go through your life history and presenting issue. In the sessions that follow we will then dive into what may be going on for you and how to heal so that you can begin to move towards wellness.

Initial session: $175 for 60 minutes

Ongoing session: $150 for 45 minutes

Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay

I cannot accept AHCCCS insurance due to there being no out-of-network services available for this insurance type. Clients will be billed upfront for services and reimbursed for each session by their insurance company once their deductible has been met.

Cassandra actually "heard" me! Most therapists don't seem interested, just doing their "job." Cassandra understood what I was saying, what I needed and wanted. She is very accommodating. She seems to know and understand her position as my therapist and respects my individual needs, specifically.
