Catherine Cesnik, LMFT

Psychotherapist
MI
Many of my clients are successful, driven people who look like they have everything together on the outside—but privately feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure why the strategies that used to work for them no longer do. I work with professionals and leaders navigating stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the pressures of high-performance environments. Together we focus on practical solutions and new perspectives that help create meaningful, lasting change. I help my clients increase vitality—the energy, clarity, and emotional balance needed to live fully and stay resilient even when life is complicated or high-pressure. Our work focuses on helping you get more of what you truly want in your everyday life: stronger relationships, greater satisfaction, and a clearer sense of direction. Before becoming a therapist, I spent two decades in the entertainment industry becoming an expert in how people connect through shared experiences—why we go to concerts, how social media shapes relationships, and how moments of connection influence well-being. That experience led me to ask deeper questions about why people often seek escape, relief, or change but struggle to find lasting satisfaction. That led me to return to graduate school to study psychology and psychotherapy, completing extensive clinical internship training and continuing advanced post-graduate education. Today, I guide clients through the often confusing landscape of psychology and wellness, helping them focus on approaches that create real, sustainable change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, engaged, and practical. I’m an active therapist, which means I won’t just sit quietly and nod—I’ll help you notice the patterns that are keeping you stuck and work with you to change them. Many people come to therapy hoping to feel better, but real change often requires looking honestly at the ways we participate in our own struggles, especially in our relationships. I believe therapy should be both supportive and straightforward. I’ll meet you with respect and curiosity, but I’ll also challenge you when it’s helpful. Together, we’ll focus on understanding the patterns shaping your life and relationships, while developing practical ways to move toward the kind of life and connections you actually want. My goal is to help you leave sessions with greater clarity, new perspective, and concrete steps you can use right away. Above all, therapy with me is a collaborative process. We’ll work together to create meaningful change so that your life outside the therapy room begins to feel different, not just your conversations inside it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions focus on understanding what’s bringing you in and the patterns that may be keeping the problem going. We’ll talk about your current situation, relationships, and the pressures or transitions you’re navigating so we can get a clear picture of what needs to change. From there, our work becomes more active and focused. In sessions, we’ll slow down key moments—conflicts, decisions, emotional reactions—and look at what’s happening beneath the surface. I’ll help you recognize patterns in how you think, feel, and relate to others, and we’ll work on practical ways to respond differently. Sessions are conversational, engaged, and collaborative. I may ask thoughtful questions, offer perspective, or suggest specific experiments or tools to try between sessions. The goal is not just insight, but real change in how you experience your life and relationships. Over time, clients often find they have greater clarity, stronger relationships, and a deeper sense of direction and vitality in their daily lives.
