What should a new client know about working with you?

I focus on helping the client with their primary concerns while learning which past experiences are adding to present struggles. I employ evidenced based practices for the client to gain perspective and reduce symptoms such as anxiety and depression. Highlighting strengths and using humor is important as we work together towards resolve and solutions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I work hard for clients to feel that every session is productive; I discuss difficult emotions and possible traumas at the client's pace. I focus on improving the client's ability to gain perspective, reconsider negative self talk, and develop individualized strategies to solving problems. I also enjoy sharing information about effects of trauma and stress on our well-being, theories behind treatment approaches, and demystify how anti-depressant medications work.
