Chalice Kopacki, LMSW

Psychotherapist
MI
My experience lies primarily in working with adults who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress, which can be caused by changes within the family system, unhealthy relationship dynamics, stress within the work environment, financial stressors, co-morbidities, mood disorders, or chronic health concerns. I strive to help minimize these symptoms and encourage increased motivation, self-esteem, and a better overall sense of self from a holistic perspective. My clients range from seniors to young adults and anywhere in between. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Grand Valley State University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support my clients effectively. My priority is to support my clients in their own personal goals and aspirations. I offer guidance and professional support that can promote self-discovery, an improved sense of self, stronger coping skills, and positive self-talk and self-awareness. I also provide support with problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. I strongly believe that we are all one step away from needing a helping hand. Having someone to walk alongside us on this journey may be all we need to reset and refocus on our hopes and dreams for the future. In times of struggle, we have the opportunity to build on our resiliency and learn new coping strategies that can be life-changing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to working with my clients is to first listen and allow them to express what it is they are needing and wanting from the therapeutic experience. Some people come to therapy simply needing a listening ear, someone to help them process their thoughts and experiences. Other individuals come to therapy with specific goals or areas of their life they are looking to purposefully change. They want intentional work to be done to make adjustments in their life to improve quality and contentment. It is important to me to fully understand a clients expectations and desires at the beginning so we can create a plan that feels like a good fit. I am a very flexible clinician and understand life happens. It can be very difficult to commit to routine therapy and a set schedule so I have made it a priority of mine to offer flexibility within the schedule to hopefully make it easier for my clients to maintain therapy consistently.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me can be as formal or laid back as the client prefers. I come from a CBT and strengths based educational background. I do as much listening or as much prompting as my clients prefer. Some clients know exactly what they want to talk about in each session and then other clients benefit from having prompts or questions to help guide the time we spend together.
