Getting to know Charity Christensen

As a Life Coach and therapist, Charity specializes in helping individuals and groups step into personal and professional success by uncovering and celebrating uniqueness and centering on a sense of purpose - internally, relationally and in the wider world. Charity completed her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) and is trained in Brainspotting, a brain-based therapy that allows clients to locate, focus, process and release stuck emotions, negative beliefs and body-based concerns, known as a powerful tool for unlocking high performance capacities (athletes, artists, entrepreneurs, etc.), transforming trauma and promoting post-traumatic growth. Keenly aware that self-exploration and vulnerability can be profoundly unsettling, Charity strives to be attuned, courageous and forthright as she joins clients in facing life’s challenges together. She encourages a compassionate and accepting environment, where clients feel free to take risks, touch into areas previously avoided, and harness in-the-moment opportunities for healing, growth and change. Drawing on a mix of evidence based and cutting edge approaches, her clinical focuses include anxiety, depression, social and relationship challenges and trauma. Charity enjoys working with both adults and teens. Born the youngest in a very large “Yours, Mine & Ours” family, Charity understands first hand the power of listening with love, accepting what is, thinking critically, challenging the status quo and sticking together. As a family, she and her loved ones left organized religion without abandoning spirituality. This experience piqued her interest in the interplay of religious trauma, attachment dynamics and developmental trauma. Like many New Yorkers, Charity has recently moved from out West. She can empathize with and support others who have uprooted and now acculturating to life in a new city.
