Getting to know Cheril Ellingson

Counseling can help you handle life’s obstacles in a healthy way. As a therapist and through personal experience, I understand that starting this journey can feel scary, daunting, or overwhelming. It’s easy to isolate yourself, suppress the pain, or believe you can’t be helped. No matter what you’re struggling with, you don’t have to face it alone. My goal is to get to know you for who you are and help you achieve wellness from within. As we work together, I strive to help you feel heard, validated, and empowered. I offer a thoughtful, sensitive, compassionate, and non-judgmental presence. My approach to counseling encourages you to explore your past, present, and the life you hope to create in the future. I aim to provide a warm and safe environment to support you on your journey. I utilize a range of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative, Positive Psychology, Solution-Focused, and Strength-Based modalities. Throughout our time together, I tailor my approach to each individual to ensure you receive the best care possible. I assist clients navigating difficult life transitions and help address anxiety, stress, depression, relationship issues, grief, and loss. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University. My clients have included teenagers, young adults, and older adults, though I enjoy working with all ages. I hope that together we can build a strong relationship and focus on helping you become the best version of yourself.

Working with Cheril was a delight. She is extremely easy to talk to. she is both approachable and professional. Her insight illuminated a ew perspective that I didn't originally take into consideration.
Cheril is one of the most kind and understanding counselors I've ever gone to. She always creates a welcoming environment that makes it much easier to open up in and understand the situations I'm going through. I know that no matter what I come to her with, she will work with me and help me figure out a solution to my problem without inserting herself with what she would do. I enjoy all of the sessions we have together and I would recommend her to anyone who is seeking counseling now or in the future!
Full transparency from the beginning which was a breath of fresh air. Very professional and mature atmosphere. Ms. Ellingson helped me through a rough patch in my life and I will eternally be grateful for her.
