Psychotherapist
141 W Davies Ave, Littleton, CO
Hello, I'm Cheryl. I look forward to waking up each morning knowing I am going to meet with people who are working towards making changes in their lives. I have compassion and empathy for those who have been hurt and who have hurt others. I believe there is a path to heal and live a life where pain, suffering, guilt, and shame do not control one’s life. When you work with me, we will partner in choosing an agreed-upon approach to therapy and set goals that are measurable so you will be able to see the progress you are making. I work with adults struggling with acute and complex trauma, adjustments to life changes, relationship issues, co-dependency, and anxiety. I also work with adults who wish to improve in sports, leadership, and other areas where advancement is desired. I am certified in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and often use it for trauma-related issues as well as building on strengths. I also use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help change negative thought patterns and improve emotional health, and the skills of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help those who feel emotions very intensely. Additionally, I offer faith-based therapy for those who are interested in incorporating spiritual healing in their therapy. In 2003, I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a master’s degree in Community Counseling, emphasizing Marriage and Family Therapy. I worked for Banner Health in Northern Colorado for 15 years as a Licensed Professional Counselor and am currently in private practice. I began practicing EMDR in 2006 and am currently certified. It can be intimidating to look at our problems and even more so to do something about them. I will join with you and build a trusting relationship to make this as comfortable as possible. I look forward to journeying with you as you work toward a life you desire.
