Getting to know Christie Blaylock

"Hello, I'm Christie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 25 years of experience in the counseling profession. I completed both my undergraduate and graduate studies at Virginia Commonwealth University and have lived in and around Richmond for most of my life. What seems like just yesterday I embarked on a brand-new career. Somehow just yesterday became decades filled with exciting clinical and administrative experiences. From foster care to outpatient administration, and franchise ownership, the years have offered incredibly rich opportunities to gain an understanding of what clients want and expect from outpatient therapy. This is what led me to establish an online therapy practice. It is my belief that counseling services should be competent, compassionate, and convenient. I am at a point in my career where I am able to focus my clinical attention on those areas of specialty that I have had the most success treating and about which I feel the most passionate. I accept a limited number of clients at any given time allowing for only the most thoughtful and individualized care. At this time, I treat adults ages 18 and over with a variety of mental health conditions, interpersonal experiences, and phases of life issues. My primary specialties include stress and anxiety counseling, depression, codependency, grief counseling, pet bereavement, blended family issues, relationship counseling, life coaching, and work and career decision-making. My style is most often described as genuine and approachable. I am not afraid to laugh and you shouldn’t be either. I am a straight talker and provide directive treatment. While I want you to feel that talking with me is as comfortable as having coffee with an old friend, it is my responsibility to make sure that there is much more to it. You are seeking help for a reason. While cathartic, just talking isn’t likely to get you where you are wanting to go.
