Christina Carminati, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I work with adults who often look like they are managing everything on the outside, while internally feeling overwhelmed, mentally exhausted, or stuck in patterns they cannot seem to shift. Many of my clients come to therapy struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, insomnia, low self-esteem, or the ongoing pressure of trying to keep up with work and daily life. My approach is collaborative, practical, and insight-oriented. I believe therapy should be a space where you can better understand what is weighing on you, while also building tools that help you feel more grounded and more in control. I also specialize in working with high-profile clients, creative professionals, and individuals navigating forensic or legal-related situations, where privacy, trust, and feeling fully understood are especially important.

Getting to know Christina Carminati

What should a new client know about working with you?

You do not need to show up with everything organized or perfectly explained for therapy to be helpful. Part of the work is slowing things down enough to understand what is actually going on beneath the stress, self-doubt, or constant mental noise. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I bring both honesty and warmth into the room. I like therapy to feel like a place where you can be real, think clearly, and feel supported without judgment. I also naturally bring humor, creativity, and mindfulness into sessions when it feels helpful, because sometimes insight comes more easily when there is room to breathe.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I usually begin by getting a fuller picture of what feels hardest to you right now, along with the patterns or past experiences that may be contributing to it. From there, we start identifying where you feel stuck, what keeps repeating, and what needs to shift in order for life to feel more manageable. My sessions are conversational and interactive. Some days the work is processing and making sense of difficult emotions, and other days it is more direct problem solving. I tailor the process to each client, but I often incorporate mindfulness, body awareness, and practical feedback so that therapy feels useful not just during session, but in everyday life too.
