Getting to know Christopher Dolin

My social work education, including a Master’s in Social Work from City University of New York, Hunter College, and my ongoing teaching in the field, commit me to an eclectic approach to psychotherapy. What does that mean to you? While I lean toward the object relations and intersubjectivist schools, it means I'm listening to you and thinking about you not simply through these (or other) theoretical lenses, but as the person you are and the situation you're in. It means that I view the relationship we form together as the basis for the changes you want to make in your life. That's why I particularly like working with people who view themselves as in transition: for example, from the developmental stage of late adolescence to young adulthood; or, from one job, career, or relationship into another or into what feels at the moment like either an exciting world of possibility or a frightening void. I work with individuals (both children and adults), couples, families, and groups.
