Getting to know Claudio Lourenco
VIRTUAL SESSIONS ONLY, video or phone. Psychoanalysis focuses on uncovering and working through unconscious sources of problems. With 30 years of experience, I facilitate your insight and processing, respecting your timing, culture, and values.
I hold a Master’s in Psychology from the University of Buenos Aires and a Master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from City University of New York, John Jay College.
SPANISH, PORTUGUESE, ITALIAN SPOKEN.
Since the pandemic, all services are via VIDEO-CHAT. Sessions last 45 minutes, meeting weekly on the same day and time.
I work individually in private practice. You won’t deal with reception staff, but I provide only insight-oriented individual therapy for adults. Some patients may need a higher level of care or a different approach.
To avoid mismatches, I offer a free 15-minute phone screening to assess if we are a good fit for your treatment success.
If your needs fit my services (e.g., outpatient telehealth, psychoanalytic approach), we continue with a 30-minute intake, totaling 45 minutes, billed as an initial assessment (CPT-90791).
If your needs don’t fit (e.g., higher level of care or different approach), we end at 15 minutes, and you receive referrals by text or email. This screening is NOT billed.
You are financially responsible for your treatment and must pay the same day services are provided. This applies to insured patients with copays as well. Cancellations require at least 48 hours’ notice; otherwise, you will be charged in full.

Any copays are due at the moment of the visit. In case your insurance declines payment you will be responsible for my private fee for session ($150,-)

Mr Lourenco is an insightful psychoanalyst who helped me to "connect the dots" and made me realize about my tendency to repeat certain ways of attaching and how these were related to early traumatic experiences in my childhood. As a social works myself I would recommend him both as a therapist and as a supervisor.
