Psychotherapist
WA
Finding a therapist is like shopping for clothes, you might try on a shirt you like and not get it because it feels uncomfortable. The same goes for therapists, you might try a few before you find the right fit. It is your right as a client to either hire or fire or me after meeting depending on whether you find me scratchy or comfortable. Everyone possesses intersecting identities that shape their lived experiences. For many clients I serve, these intersecting identities, which encompass gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, physical ability, socioeconomic status, and documentation status, are crucial to their treatment. My goal is to practice cultural humility and work collaboratively to offer trauma treatment. I am committed to offering evidence-based trauma treatments, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and DBT Prolonged Exposure (DBT PE) protocol, to help clients break free from generational cycles. While these are my specialties, I also offer an eclectic approach, helping clients choose their preferred therapy modalities and tailoring interventions to their treatment goals. Addressing trauma in therapy is hard work and I want to make sure that people seeking trauma treatment can access this treatment on the weekend, so they do not have the stress of juggling work and appointments. I am an LICSW and Child Mental Health Specialist in WA state. My career in public service began in early childhood education. Since then, I have worked in primary prevention of child abuse and neglect, as a crime victim advocate, in child welfare, and continue to work in community mental health. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Western Washington University in 2016 and a Master of Social Work in 2019 from Pacific University. I am EMDR, DBT, and TF-CBT trained. I also completed training with Seattle Children's Hospital's Eating Disorder Training Network to provide eating disorder treatment to adolescents and youth.
