Courtney O'Brien, LPC

Psychotherapist
CO
Hello, I have been in the field for 9 years and am very passionate about helping people on their journey to improve mental health and/or addiction-related concerns. I specialize in both mental health and addiction-related issues. I have a bachelor's degree in Biopsychology and a master's degree in Co-occurring Disorders and Integrative Recovery. My degrees and experience help me to provide effective and comprehensive care. I have worked in many settings and with diverse populations. Some of these include outpatient substance abuse and mental health, crisis mental health, detox for withdrawal management services, and counseling for residential clients. I have also been an advocate for online therapy and how it helps to offer more accessible services. We all have things we want to work on. I am a down-to-earth and compassionate therapist who uses a person-centered approach to create a nonjudgmental atmosphere where you will feel encouraged and comfortable opening up. Using a strengths-based approach, I will work to challenge you as you move towards change. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you focus your intentions in order to actualize your goals. I also like to empathically interject humor to facilitate a positive therapeutic experience. I have experience working with clients in the following areas: Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, Adolescent stressors, Weight loss/Body Image, and Emotional Regulation (coping with sadness, anxiety, shame, etc.). Additional areas I have experience in are trauma, self-love and compassion, relationship building, intimacy, and gender identity. Everyone's perspectives and experiences are different. This is why I don't just focus on our similarities. We can have similarities and yet our experiences of those things can be completely different. I prefer to ask questions rather than assume I "know" what you are feeling and thinking.
