Getting to know Curtis Dick

My clinical career began working with at-risk and justice-involved youth and later expanded into behavioral health clinic settings. These experiences taught me something fundamental: every person has a story worth understanding. Many of us carry messages about ourselves that we did not create. Sometimes those messages come from family, relationships, communities, or difficult life experiences. Over time, they can become internalized and shape how we see ourselves and the world around us. They can contribute to depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, and a sense of being stuck in patterns that no longer serve us. In my work, I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Narrative Therapy. These approaches help us identify cognitive distortions, address symptoms of distress, build practical coping skills, and develop healthier ways of relating to ourselves and others. At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change happens when people feel heard, understood, and empowered. Therapy can provide a space to make sense of your experiences, recognize your resilience, and move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion. Whatever challenges bring you to therapy, I look forward to working with you to own your narrative.

Curtis is an integral part of the mental health community. I've been blessed to have his assistance towards a better future for me and my family.
I’ve been meeting with Curtis for over 2 years. I feel fortunate to have his support and guidance during critical periods in my journey to wellness that has included professional concerns and transitions, physical health woes, and matters regarding to friends and family. What may be most remarkable is his acknowledgment of my realities as they relate to my identity, equity, and current events PLUS the space to reflect on how this can impact my wellness and mental health. He has an approach that allows me to take lead in my healing and build a toolkit that that offers safety, grace, and celebration. Sessions with Curtis feel collaborative and intentional. Curtis offers consistency and flexibility reflected in the duration of our time working together. In the last two years, I’ve had major life changes that resulted in my 100% looking different over time. Through these shifts, Curtis has always provided a high level of service, attention and empathy.
