Daniel Fuchs, MFT

Psychotherapist
NY
A person trapped in a pit cannot climb out on their own; they need someone standing outside to reach in and pull them up. As a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating relationship challenges, family dynamics, life transitions, and personal growth. My approach is person-centered and collaborative: I believe you're the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you, not ahead of you. From our very first session, my priority is creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and safe enough to be honest. Whether you're working through relationship dynamics, family patterns, or personal growth on your own, I meet you where you are and tailor our work together to fit your goals, values, and pace. Therapy isn't about me having all the answers; it's about us discovering them together—sometimes, all it takes is someone reaching in to help you find your way out.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is person-centered and collaborative: I believe you’re the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you, not ahead of you. I meet you where you are and tailor our work together to fit your goals, values, and pace. From our very first session, I focus on building genuine rapport and creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and safe enough to be honest. Therapy isn’t about me having all the answers; it’s about us discovering them together. Whether you’re navigating relationship or family dynamics, anxiety, depression, a life transition, or simply looking to better understand yourself, my goal is to support you in exploring the changes that feel important to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I tailor each session to what you need. If you’re looking for a more directive and structured approach, I can provide tangible skills and constructive feedback. At other times, I may take a more supportive role, giving you space for self-exploration, reflection, or processing your emotions. Together, we may explore your thoughts, emotions, experiences, and patterns with curiosity rather than judgment. Often, the behaviors or reactions we want to change make more sense once we understand what is driving them. Depending on your goals, our sessions might include practical tools for managing challenges in the present, deeper exploration of relationship or family patterns, or a combination of both. I see therapy as a collaborative process where insight, reflection, and practical change can happen side by side.
