Psychotherapist

Whether you are struggling with the ups and downs of bipolar disorder, following through on life goals due your ADHD, getting overwhelmed by panic and anxiety at work, or failing to create stable romantic relationships, I can provide you with the tools to cope and thrive. I want to be there to support you during this process. We all get overwhelmed and new challenges can emerge, coping skills cease working, and new skills need developing. Successful therapy starts with the formation of the counselor-client bond. Therapy is a supportive relationship outside your network of friends and family. A non-judgmental alliance is fostered. Still, there is a place in counseling for holding a person to account, and I walk that tightrope well. Psychic injuries, biological dispositions, familial and life experiences shape our present. The past affects how we relate to others and why we carry wounds into the present.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Attachment theory. Along with the above concerns, other areas of concentration include panic disorder, depression, improving self esteem, increasing assertiveness, and improving interpersonal relationships. Together, we can explore how therapy can help you achieve your goals. I've helped clients overcome life’s stresses, build stronger relationships, and achieve greater personal fulfillment. I came to counseling after supporting a friend who is living with a mood disorder. I was a support group facilitator and interned at a day program for people living with severe psychiatric disorders. I found counseling meaningful and rewarding. These experiences led me to refocus my college career on psychology and studio art with an eye toward a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling. During and after the program, I worked at a community-based AIDS organization. Afterward, I transitioned into private practice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment is a full 45/50-minute Initial Assessment & Intake Session. Rather than a brief consultation, we will use this dedicated time to: -Discuss what brings you to therapy and your current goals. -Explore relevant personal, medical, and social history. -Ensure my clinical approach aligns well with your needs and outline a personalized treatment plan.
