Psychotherapist
NY
Hi, I'm Dr. Danielle, founder and CEO of Conversations on the Couch, LLC — a practice built on the belief that mental health support should feel human, not clinical and cold. I work with clients as a therapist, consultant, executive coach, and clinical supervisor, and I bring the same core philosophy to all three roles: emotional intelligence is a skill, not a personality trait, and it can be built. My clinical work primarily draws from psychodynamic approaches, with some incorporation of cognitive-behavioral, relational, interpersonal, and solution-focused therapies; I tailor the blend to what actually helps the person in front of me—not a one-size-fits-all protocol. I'm especially passionate about destigmatizing mental illness and delivering culturally responsive care, which means I show up curious about your background, your identity, and the systems you're navigating, rather than assuming a single narrative fits everyone. As a coach, I help driven people — professionals, leaders, and those in career or life transitions — get unstuck. That might mean untangling a pattern that keeps showing up at work, building confidence around a hard conversation, or simply creating more clarity about what you actually want next. As a clinical supervisor, I support therapists and interns in developing sound clinical judgment, an ethical compass, and their own authentic voice in the room — with an emphasis on practical, plain-language guidance over jargon-heavy policy talk. Across all of this, my aim is the same: to be a steady, honest presence who meets you where you are, tells you the truth even when it's uncomfortable, and helps you build real skills you'll carry long after our work together ends. Whether you're seeking therapy, coaching, or supervision, you can expect a space that's warm, direct, and genuinely invested in your growth.

Getting to know Dr. Danielle Waldron

What should a new client know about working with you?

First — you don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out. Whether you're coming to therapy, coaching, or supervision, I meet people where they are, not where they think they should be. In our first session, I'll spend time understanding your story, your goals, and what "progress" would actually look like for you. I ask a lot of questions early on, not to interrogate you, but because good work depends on an accurate picture — of your history, your current stressors, your strengths, and the cultural or identity-based context that shapes your experience. You should also know I'm direct. I care about your comfort, but I care more about your growth, so I'll gently challenge patterns or blind spots when I see them — always with respect, never to embarrass or shame you. Destigmatizing mental health struggles is core to how I practice, so nothing you bring into the room will surprise or alarm me. If you're coming to me for coaching, expect a more action-oriented pace: goals, accountability, and concrete next steps alongside the emotional-intelligence work. If you're a supervisee, expect practical, real-world guidance — not textbook language — and a space to be honest about what you don't yet know. Across all three roles, confidentiality, consistency, and respect for your autonomy are non-negotiable. You set the goals; I bring the structure, expertise, and honesty to help you get there.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process starts with a conversation, not a checklist. In our first session (or two), I focus on understanding the full picture — your history, current concerns, what's brought you in now, and what success would look like to you. For therapy clients, this includes a clinical intake covering background, symptoms, and any relevant safety or risk factors. For coaching clients, it's more focused on goals, obstacles, and the gap between where you are and where you want to be. For supervisees, we start by mapping your current caseload, clinical strengths, and areas you want to develop. From there, we build a loose roadmap together — not a rigid program, but a shared understanding of what we're working toward and how we'll know we're making progress. Session to session, expect a mix of reflective conversation and concrete tools — we'll process what's coming up emotionally, but I'll also equip you with practical strategies you can use between sessions, whether that's a coping skill, a communication script, or a supervision framework for a tricky case. Throughout, the pace is yours — I'll bring structure and expertise, but you're the one steering what we focus on and how fast we move.
