Getting to know Danni Jo
Hello, I’m Jo, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate who supports individuals navigating depression, trauma, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. My path into this work was shaped by my own transformative experiences in therapy, which helped me reconnect with myself and build a greater sense of safety and belonging. That experience led me to pursue this work to support others in doing the same.
I work with adults who are processing the impacts of trauma, including religious or cult experiences, as well as those from non-traditional family backgrounds, individuals raised by single parents, and new parents navigating identity shifts and reparenting. I’m especially passionate about supporting people who have felt marginalized or impacted by systemic oppression, and I aim to create a space where your full experience is acknowledged and respected.
My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in compassion, honesty, and at times, humor. I help clients build emotional awareness and regulation skills while exploring deeper patterns and experiences at a pace that feels supportive. My work is informed by intersectional and liberation-focused frameworks, including feminist, anti-oppressive, and Health at Every Size (HAES) perspectives.
As a white, cisgender, queer therapist from a low-income background and a first-generation college graduate, I remain committed to ongoing self-reflection and growth in how I show up for clients. I strive to create an inclusive, affirming space that honors diverse identities and lived experiences.
My goal is to support you in expanding your emotional capacity, reconnecting with yourself, and creating more access to meaning, resilience, and joy in your life.

Working with me is a collaborative and honest process where you’re encouraged to show up as your full self. I value building a strong therapeutic relationship and often incorporate warmth, humor, and directness to help you feel both supported and grounded.
I approach therapy through a lens that acknowledges the impact of larger systems and life experiences, while also focusing on what’s happening for you in the present. My goal is to help you make sense of your experiences, strengthen your emotional capacity, and move toward a life that feels more aligned, meaningful, and connected.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I focus on understanding your experiences, current challenges, and what feels most important for you to work on. Together, we identify patterns, explore emotions, and begin to make connections between your past and present in a way that feels manageable.
As therapy continues, we build on that insight by developing tools for emotional regulation and resilience, while also creating space to process deeper experiences. I check in regularly to make sure our work stays aligned with your needs and adjust our focus as things evolve.
