Getting to know David Geonetta
Hello, I'm David. My interest and involvement with counseling and human development have been life-long. I earned a Master's in Counseling from Arizona State University in 2011 and have completed numerous professional training programs, both current and ongoing. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my approach is goal-oriented and practical, tailored to what my clients bring to each session. I utilize various modalities, including biographical work, cognitive-behavioral techniques, trauma-focused therapies, family/systems therapy, and brief/focused therapy. Additionally, I've completed several modules of hypnotherapy training via the Milton H. Erickson Foundation in Phoenix, AZ, and the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts (SWIHA).
I've had the privilege of working with many clients in a wide variety of clinical and community settings. My experience, knowledge, and training are enriched by the diverse experiences I've encountered professionally. I believe counseling is a working partnership designed to maximize healthy self-development.
My clients are often individuals in pain or distress due to issues in their lives that seem overwhelming to tackle alone. They seek practical solutions to trauma, often stemming from unresolved childhood issues. Some come with relationship concerns, anger, frustration, or even depression. Many of my clients are sincerely open to change, which is an essential element for therapy to be productive. Helping them find more meaningful ways of coping is deeply satisfying for me.
I firmly believe that everyone has hidden resources within that can guide us toward positive change. Deep inside, we all desire to be healthy and to live lives that are constructive and satisfying, both for our personal growth and for our relationships with others. As a wise philosopher once said, 'If on some day, we find no miracle in our life, we have merely overlooked it.'
