Getting to know David Kolker
Hello. I am David Kolker and have provided clinical services for over 15 years. I work with couples, individuals, and groups. I approach therapy from an Attachment Therapy perspective and believe that co-dependency and shame are our two greatest challenges. A large part of our time together will be identifying unhealthy attachment styles formed during childhood and exploring how these models have impacted our ability or inability to maintain healthy adult relationships.
I am atypical from most other therapists in that I believe building rapport is critical. I value self-disclosure, vulnerability, and authenticity-from both you and me-and working from an emotional perspective. Unfortunately, we often seek answers outside of ourselves, when the problem and answers are inside. Why? Because we don't like to deal with emotional pain.
I hold a Master's in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University and a Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University. I look forward to working with you and moving in a direction of wellness.
What should a new client know about working with you?

You will discover that we will deal with emotional issues rather than talk about the weather or newsworthy events. Our job together is to get real and begin building wellness. This is both of our jobs.
