Life doesn’t always get easier with time. Sometimes change brings more questions than answers: retirement, shifting family roles, health concerns, or just that feeling of being disconnected from yourself. You might be wondering if what you’re feeling is normal, or if things are supposed to feel this hard. You’re not alone in that. I'm David Mellendorf, a licensed clinical social worker, and I help adults and older adults who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to move forward in life transitions. My work is centered around building trust and creating space where you can feel comfortable sharing what’s really going on. If you're dealing with anxiety, depression, or a big life transition, I’m here to meet you where you are and help you find your footing again. Therapy with me is flexible and supportive. I want our time together to feel useful and help you move toward your goals. Each session, we’ll talk through what’s going on, check in on your progress, and explore strategies that might help. In our first session, I focus on helping you feel heard and validated. It’s okay to be nervous. Most people are at first. Comfort comes with time and practice. I became a therapist because I am genuinely invested in helping people feel better. Some have said I present with a charismatic calming presence. I truly want you to leave therapy feeling more like yourself, with tools you can carry forward. Outside the therapy room, I enjoy sports, cars, travel, and being outdoors.
