In addition to my work as a psychologist, I am also a Christian minister and have served in that role for over 40 years. My educational background includes a PsyD and a Master’s in Psychology from Newport University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University. My approach to therapy is simple: I help clients discover and develop their ability to grow through the challenges and difficulties they face in life. I aim to help clients see the positive possibilities for their lives. Much of my approach is cognitive in nature, focusing on the thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs that influence behaviors and emotions. It is grounded in the present moment and helps individuals develop a strong mindset—a way of thinking that enables them to navigate life’s storms positively. I work with adults, teens, and couples, providing treatment for depression, mood disorders, anger management, substance abuse, problem gambling, self-esteem issues, and marital problems. My communication style is flexible and client-centered, characterized by positive regard and allowing clients to express what is happening in their lives. I have been described as "down to earth" and easy to work with. My goal is to help clients feel open and comfortable so they can look forward to each session with anticipation. I love working with people and have always been fascinated by personalities and what drives human behavior. I believe every person has value—a belief shaped by my many years as a church minister. Early in my ministry, I often found myself overwhelmed by people seeking counseling for their many problems, which deepened my commitment to mental healthcare.
