Dayna Bandy, LCSW

Psychotherapist
VA
My name is Dayna Bandy, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of Virginia and North Carolina. I have been in the field of social work for over 20 years and have worked in a variety of settings such as Outpatient Therapy, In-Home Therapy, Psychiatric Residential Treatment facilities, Group Homes, Corrections, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and Private Practice. I have treated various populations such as adults, children, young adults, and military connected youth and families. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Social Welfare from Old Dominion University. Then I obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a clinical concentration and a second concentration in School Work from Norfolk State University. As a result of my formal studies, working in many different settings, and being military connected, I take an eclectic approach in which I use a variety of treatment modalities as I believe each individual is unique and require an array of different approaches that are specific to them. However, some of the approaches used include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy & together engage in an assessment for treatment. I know going into therapy can be scary and vulnerable. However, making the decision to focus on oneself and start working with a therapist can be life changing and I applaud you for taking the time to focus on you. I work with many people who struggle with depression, anxiety, attachment, increase in stress, and military connected matters. I focus on providing a welcoming and non-judgmental environment that gives space to be creative and open minded. In therapy, we will work towards your unique goals for personal growth and well-being.
