Deijah Robateau, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
Hi, I’m Deijah. I’m an LMSW working with young adults, adults, and couples around trauma, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. I tend to work with people whose minds feel like they’re doing a lot: overthinking, scanning for what could go wrong, or getting stuck in patterns that are hard to shift. In our work together, I use a mix of narrative therapy, mindfulness, and CBT to help you make sense of what’s been coming up and find ways to move through it that feel realistic. I have about six years of experience in crisis intervention, so I’m comfortable talking about things that can feel hard to say out loud, like intrusive or suicidal thoughts. You don’t have to clean anything up before bringing it into session. My goal is to offer a space that feels warm, grounded, and helpful—not just a place to talk, but somewhere you can start to feel better.

Getting to know Deijah Robateau

Hi, I’m Deijah. I’m an LMSW working with young adults, adults, and couples around trauma, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. I tend to work with people whose minds feel like they’re doing a lot: overthinking, scanning for what could go wrong, or getting stuck in patterns that are hard to shift. I have about six years of experience in crisis intervention, so I’m comfortable talking about things that can feel hard to say out loud, like intrusive or suicidal thoughts. What should a new client know about working with you?

I try to keep therapy feeling real and collaborative. I’ll meet you where you are, and we’ll figure things out together, while also building tools that you can actually use outside of session. My style can be a mix of reflective and more direct, depending on what you need that day. I’m also pretty open as a person, but I keep the focus on you and your process. If you’re not sure what to expect, that’s completely okay. I usually suggest starting with five or six consistent sessions so we can get to know each other, understand what’s bringing you in, and get a sense of where to go next.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Early on, I’ll spend time getting to know you—what’s been going on, how it’s affecting your day-to-day life, and what feels most important to focus on. From there, we’ll start to look at patterns, explore what might be underneath them, and figure out what kinds of support would actually help. That might mean talking things through, building coping tools, or finding ways to manage overwhelming moments in your body and thoughts. Some sessions will be more reflective, some more practical. We’ll adjust as we go. The goal is for you to leave with a better understanding of yourself and a few more ways to handle what’s been feeling hard.
