I've been a licensed psychotherapist for 40 years. I have never had a boring day at work. Humans are endlessly fascinating. What makes us who we are? As we transition from middle age to senior status, many of us are looking back at our accumulated experiences, relationships, values, and beliefs to find meaning and hope in this next stage of our development. LOSS ON SO MANY LEVELS--perhaps of friends, family members, our work role, our empty nest, our mental sharpness, our confidence in the future--and the physical aging process have become life-changing in ways we never imagined. The world we've known has in some ways become unrecognizable. We are in this discussion with our colleagues, friends, and families continually, sharing experiences and thoughts. It's comforting to talk to others who are in the same circumstances. Therapy focuses this contemplation on you. What's been your unique journey to now? What's unfinished, or needs repair? Are you reevaluating relationships? How can you process the past to be free for the future? How are you coping with grief? Therapy offers both healing and growth; I say this both as a provider and consumer! I'd welcome a chance to be a part of your healing, or growth, or both, with you.
