Hello, I'm Donna. Life can be messy, and we can get turned around while trying to work through major life transitions or issues that arise. These things can greatly impact our overall well-being, especially if we do not have some effective tools to manage them. It can seem like a daunting task to overcome our life stressors and process overwhelming feelings that go with them. I would like to help you on your mental health journey; together we can learn how to positively manage life's challenges and celebrate your successes. In 2018, I graduated from Regent University in Virginia Beach with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As a licensed professional counselor (LPC), I have been working in private practice and community mental health organizations for 4 years. I primarily work with clients experiencing depression and anxiety, traumatic situations, and PTSD. I also have experience working with clients struggling with personality disorders. I have been a part of the military community as a "brat," a spouse, and a Department of Defense civilian. I have been using EMDR to assist both men and women struggling with traumatic life events. I focus on adults and children, using trauma-focused, cognitive, and dialectical behavioral therapies to help my clients think about the issues they’re facing, viewing them from two sides of a coin or through a different lens. By developing skills to help you think and act differently, and how to interact with others, you can be empowered to enact life changes that are important to you. I will endeavor to work toward building a trusting relationship with you in which you feel heard and valued. Together, we can break down those daunting trials in your life.
