Hello, I'm Donya. Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed, and stuck in your own head? Do you struggle with feelings of not being enough, feeling lost, or just going through the motions of daily life? Many of us go through our days feeling numb and disconnected or struggle with anxious and low moods. Unfortunately, in these overly busy and stress-filled times, this loss of joy and vitality is all too common. The good news is that you can feel better. I can help guide your mental health journey, and together we can discover how to help you regain your well-being and sense of purpose. I approach my clients with a great sense of hope and strive to provide a respectful, compassionate, collaborative environment for healing. I've come to believe that we all have an enormous capacity for resilience and work to help clients discover and grow their own ability to cope and thrive. My areas of concentration include depression, anxiety, life transitions, and stress management. I focus on adults and use evidence-based approaches to help my clients find new ways to view and cope with their struggles. My favored strategies include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and strategies from neuroscience. I frequently implement mind/body techniques to help clients move toward awareness, acceptance, and assimilation of difficulties. I have many years of experience in mental health, having graduated from West Virginia University in 1997 with a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling. Currently, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice in Virginia. I am also a mother of two young adults and a long-time military spouse. I have an intimate understanding of the challenges endured by military members and their families. I am available for Telehealth appointments. Please reach out to me for a consultation to see if I would be a good fit for your therapy goals!
