Getting to know Dustin Beaty

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist Candidate. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I help individuals and couples who feel stuck and hopeless to make a plan for change, then guide them through this life-changing process. I have a particular interest in working with couples and individuals who struggle with long-term unwanted or addictive behaviors. I know what it's like to feel overwhelmed by life. My hope is that together we can lighten your load, restore the hope you lost somewhere along the way, and set a trajectory for a wholly new experience of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You always have control over the direction we go and how fast we move. Working as a team, you tell me if something is working well or if we need to try a different approach. There's no pressure to do this therapy thing perfectly, especially if you've never done it before.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is the time for me to get to know you. I'll ask questions about your history and what brings you into counseling now. We'll talk about your goals for therapy and how you can start working toward them now. In ongoing sessions, we'll identify your strengths and the things that are going well so you can capitalize on those. We'll also identify the places in life you tend to get stuck and experiment with different approaches to help you move forward in the way you want.
