Dylan Solano, MA

Psychotherapist
NY
“Dylan Solano” is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Hi, I’m Dylan! As a Psychotherapist and Marriage & Family Therapist Limited Permit (MFT-LP), I believe therapy begins with curiosity—curiosity about who you are, what you have experienced, and the ways those experiences have shaped how you relate to yourself, others, and the world around you. The ways we navigate life are shaped by our relationships, identities, environments, and the systems we have had to move through. At times, the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that bring us to therapy may feel like problems that need to be fixed. I instead try to understand them as meaningful responses to what you have experienced—ways of coping, protecting yourself, connecting with others, or getting through what you needed to get through. Together, we can explore whether those strategies still fit the person you are becoming. I work from a non-pathologizing, person-centered, and trauma-informed perspective, drawing from approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic therapy. I am especially interested in exploring the beliefs, patterns, and stories that can develop beneath the surface and influence how we understand ourselves and our relationships. My goal is not to tell you who you should be, but to help you develop a deeper and more compassionate understanding of yourself so that you can make choices that feel more authentic to who you are. As someone who works from an affirmative perspective, I strive to create a space where identity, relationships, sexuality, culture, family, and the complexities that come with them can be explored openly and without judgment. I recognize that therapy does not happen separately from the world around us, and I remain committed to approaching each person with cultural humility, curiosity, and an awareness of the different experiences and systems that shape our lives.
