We have an excellent rapport because she listens, affirms what needs to be affirmed, but challenges me frequently to rethink and reorganize my thoughts when I need to. Getting to know Elanna Spano

The provider is a “Licensed Professional Counselor" and their license number is 37PC00833600 What do you see when you look into the mirror? If you see anything other than exactly who you are or who you want to be—accepting all your flaws for the uniqueness they are meant to be—and find that this is getting in the way of living your best life, you are in the right place. I am a dually licensed Professional Counselor and Drug & Alcohol Counselor with certifications in trauma training. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgian Court University. My approach to counseling is to provide the space for you to explore who you are while offering guidance on your journey. This allows you to uncover the core issues that have led to any unhappiness or struggles holding back authentic living. I look for maladaptive patterns—such as addiction, unhealthy relationships, overeating, self-sabotage, and more—that have resulted in repeated outcomes throughout your life. Together, we work to intervene in these patterns and develop healthier coping strategies that align with your values. This process helps you live more authentically and connect with who you truly are, rather than simply fulfilling roles assigned to you in the past. At birth, we are a Tabula Rasa— a blank slate—and I believe that when beginning self-exploration or recovery journeys, we become the same. Ask yourself: “Who am I?” Let me help you begin filling in the specifics, rather than the roles.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I hope to provide you with the tools that you will need throughout the rest of your journey. My concept of therapy is not to guide clients through one specific issue, rather empower the client to see that they are capable of utilizing the tools if they commit to the process. Any therapeutic process relies on a commitment from the therapist to invest their skills and knowledge; however if the client is not invested in the change process it cannot work to their full advantage. That’s not to say that it will not work as every experience changes us, it just will not have the desired effect/results without working in tandem.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
