Emily Walsh, LMSW

Emily Walsh, LMSW

Psychotherapist
68 Jay St, Brooklyn, NY
Hi, I'm Emily a therapist for anxiety and all the ways it shows up in your relationships. What you'll find in a session with me is someone who shows up fully. That means compassion, curiosity, and honesty, and yes, humor too, because sometimes that's exactly what the work calls for. I'll challenge you to think differently or go a little deeper, but always with warmth. Sessions are collaborative and conversational, and I believe the relationship we build together is one of the most important parts of the process. I know trust takes time, and I'm not in a rush. I'm here for the long haul.

What should a new client know about working with you?

No two people are the same, and I don't treat them that way. I'm interested in your whole inner world, the experiences that shaped you, the patterns you keep bumping into, and the motivations you might not even be fully aware of yet. My goal is to help you expand how you think and feel, without judgment, and at a pace that works for you. Sometimes that means looking back. Sometimes it means staying right here and figuring out what to do next. As a therapist for anxiety, depression, and life transitions, I work primarily from Psychodynamic, Narrative, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy frameworks, and I weave in neuroscience, mindfulness, and CBT and DBT techniques to help connect what's happening in your mind with what's happening in your body. I work with individuals and couples across a range of areas including anxiety and depression, trauma, relationships and intimacy, self-esteem and body image, grief, and more.
