Getting to know Esther Choo

I believe therapy can offer a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and better understand yourself. I work collaboratively with clients navigating anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, and difficult emotions. Together, we explore patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be contributing to feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. My style is warm, relational, and culturally sensitive, and I strive to create a space where clients feel supported, understood, and able to move toward greater authenticity, emotional awareness, and connection in their lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from Psychodynamic Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), somatic and trauma-informed approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices. I integrate mind-body awareness and emotional processing to support deeper self-understanding, healing, and emotional resilience. Therapy with me is both reflective and practical: we may explore deeper patterns while also developing tools to help you navigate present-day challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together begins with creating a space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are. I place strong value on the therapeutic relationship and strive to build trust, curiosity, and collaboration from the start. Early sessions focus on understanding what brings you to therapy: your concerns, history, relationships, and the patterns you’ve noticed in your life. As we continue, we may deepen this exploration while also attending to what feels most important in your day-to-day experience. Over time, therapy can support increased insight, emotional awareness, and new ways of responding to challenges in relationships, work, and within yourself. I work at a pace that feels steady and supportive, and we regularly check in to ensure therapy feels helpful and aligned with your goals.
