Hello, my name is Dr. Alicea-Samaniego. I have been a California Licensed Psychologist since 2003. I earned my PsyD from John F. Kennedy University and my Bachelor's degree from California State University, East Bay. Over the years, I have had a private practice, served as an adjunct instructor in a master's program, and was the Chief Psychologist at a corrections facility in California. I work with a variety of clients presenting with different issues. My focus has been to provide services to the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, Spanish-speaking individuals, and women's issues. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, attachment-based therapy, and mindfulness. My focus In my experience, I have worked with clients experiencing challenges in their lives who need help navigating stress, depression, anger, and anxiety. I have helped those dealing with gender identity struggles, sexual orientation, and coming-out issues. My journey to therapy I became a psychologist because I was intrigued by human behavior and experience. I felt this is what I was supposed to do. My first session with you In our first session, I will ask questions to understand what brought you to therapy. We will get to know each other and evaluate our fit. It is important for a client to feel comfortable speaking freely about their issues.
