Therapy begins by developing a comfortable relationship with yourself. I encourage my patients to use whatever medium works best for them, including journaling, art, and music. My approach I use a strength-based approach and focus on helping my patients rediscover their resiliency. My focus My practice focuses on working with survivors of trauma, veterans, and first responders. I help people rediscover their resiliency through a variety of methods, including EMDR and mind-body work, to decrease stress and improve coping methods. My communication style I practice active listening and create an environment where you can feel comfortable discussing and exploring difficult issues. Sometimes this will take the form of quiet, sometimes we may just breathe together. There may also be periods of more direct communication. My journey to mental healthcare After completing graduate school, I worked in a variety of settings. These included a residential eating disorder facility, several substance abuse facilities, an outpatient clinic, a neurotherapy lab, and a private practice. Through all of these experiences, I was drawn to working with survivors of trauma. Working with survivors of trauma, I continue to be inspired by the importance of healthy connection and the internal strength inherent in us all. My goals for you People are often uncertain about what they want their goals to be for treatment. They just know they want to feel better. We will begin by identifying one or two specific goals that meet your needs and gradually add to them as therapy progresses. My first session with you Our first several sessions together are used to get to know each other. I take a detailed history about your life, education, family, issues you want to address, and goals for treatment.
