I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor and a licensed alcohol and drug counselor, holding licenses in Vermont and Virginia with over 20 years of experience. I have worked as a therapist and behavioral health counselor. I have expertise with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges and substance use issues. Many of my clients experienced physical and emotional abuse with trauma related symptoms and I have been able to help them. I connect with clients by making them feel comfortable and understood in a non-judgmental way. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I frequently use humor to ease tension, fear and to break the ice when coming to counseling. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectic behavioral and feminist approaches. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change.
