Getting to know Gila Brenner

As an experienced psychotherapist with over two decades of dedicated practice, I bring a wealth of expertise to my work with individuals, couples, and families. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Yeshiva University, which laid a strong foundation for my commitment to helping clients navigate life's challenges with compassion, understanding, and resilience. My career has been shaped by a diverse range of experiences that have enriched my therapeutic approach. From supporting individuals grappling with depression and anxiety to assisting couples in navigating relationship struggles and fertility issues, I deeply appreciate the unique journeys and struggles each client brings into the therapy room. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with clients facing significant life changes and processing grief, offering unwavering support and guidance through difficult transitions. Drawing from various modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic intervention, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs and goals of each client. By integrating evidence-based techniques with compassion and collaboration, I empower clients to explore their inner landscapes, cultivate self-awareness, and create meaningful change in their lives. In my work with adults, I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space for self-exploration and personal growth. With couples, I facilitate open communication, promote understanding, and guide partners in navigating conflicts to strengthen their connection. Within families, my aim is to foster cohesion, improve communication patterns, and cultivate harmony within the family system. Above all, I am deeply committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I believe in the inherent resilience of the human spirit and am honored to accompany clients on their journey toward healing and wholeness.

I’ve seen many thrapist in my oetume over a span of 37 years Gila ha been the best therapist I’ve ever encountered she’s very professional and extremely caring . She is also very punctual with my busy lifestyle i means a lot to me . I look forward every week to her sesions .
Provider, although sweet… is not in network with united healthcare/nyship. The office said they validated the insurance. They validated it wrong. I had to call carelon which is my behavioral side of mental health benefits. I emailed provider to which she calles and said she was calling me back and never did.

From the very first session, Gila made me feel heard and understood, creating a safe space where I could open up about things I hadn’t been able to address before. Her approach is both compassionate and professional which I believe is very important. I can confidently say that I have never felt so comfortable and safe before. What stands out the most is how Gila tailors each session to my specific needs, and the progress I've made has been beyond what I initially thought was possible. Whether we’re discussing everyday challenges or more complex issues, I always leave feeling like I have a better understanding of myself and actionable tools to move forward. I highly recommend Gila to anyone looking for guidance, support, and personal growth. Her genuine care and expertise have made a significant positive impact on my life.
She is truly amazing. Her compassion and warmth made it easy for me to open up right away. She helps me understand my emotions and find healthy ways to process them. After every session, I walk away feeling better. Having her as a therapist was the best decision I made for myself.
Gila is extremely professional and allows for a safe environment to feel heard and validated. It is always a positive experience each time we meet.
Gila is a skilled therapist working with us as a couple. She is thoughtful, patient and meets us where we're at. She's knowledgable about relationship dynamics and helps work through topics that were important to each of us. We are grateful we found her and worked alongside her for many months.
Gila is great at understanding me and my partners needs. We are Jewish but not very observant and wanted a Jewish counselor who will understand our cultural customs but still speak to us strictly as a counselor and so far so good!! 10/10!!

I really don't know what I have done without Gila for the last couple of years. She's a master at what she does. She knows how to gently guide my thought patterns into a safer approach without being invasive. I've had her de-escalate a moment of hysteria with a single sentence. My mental struggles are already so much easier to manage even though I still have a long way to go. She's validating at the right moments, firm on others, and encourages me to consider other thoughts of view without triggering any defensiveness from me. I cannot recommend her enough, and I'm so thankful for our weekly sessions.
