What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy is often associated with seeking help, solving problems, or coping with challenges in life. While all of these are true, I believe that it encompasses so much more than that. Therapy is also an opportunity to explore the depths of our emotions, thoughts, and experiences, unlocking hidden strengths and untapped potentials that lie within us. All too often, we struggle to recognize and appreciate these remarkable qualities that make us who we are. Due to our upbringing, societal pressures, and unrealistic expectations, we are taught to harshly evaluate ourselves, undermine our capabilities, and suppress how we truly feel. This is where I can help. Together, we will delve into the narratives that have shaped your self-perception, gently challenging any negative beliefs that may hold you back. I will be your mirror, reflecting the inherent strengths and resilience that may have remained obscured from your view. By helping you discover your unique identity, we can foster a profound sense of self-acceptance, empowering you to embrace the beautiful complexities of your most authentic self.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I first like to have a free 15 minute consultation by phone or zoom, so that you feel comfortable in getting to know me and can decide if myself or other therapists in my practice would be a good fit for working together. An intake is then scheduled and an invitation to our online portal will provide you some paperwork to fill out so that our initial session can be mostly getting into what you need to address in therapy, and less about background info collecting. Intakes last between 45min to 60 minutes, and if you feel that the therapy style is a good fit, we can book a consistent therapy spot. Sessions go for 40-45 minutes and are often directed by the client without any particular agenda by us. We are here to help your explore your goals needs, and not dictate how you should be or what you need to be doing. Therapy is a process, and it is collaborative. Therapy usually starts off as a weekly session, and might go down to bi-weekly depending on how you feel it is assisting you towards your therapeutic goals and needs.

  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork

More information on payments and coverage

If you are in network, you will likely be responsible for a copay per session which we will inform you about. Before a copay, sometimes there is a deductible to reach, which is a full session cost based upon insurance contracts. Depending on your plan, we will inform you if you have a deductible to pay off first before insurance coverage starts. If you have insurance but we do not take it, sometimes plans have out-of-network benefits. We work with many major insurances to submit your claims for you if you do have out-of-network coverage which can pay for a large portion and percentage of our full session fee costs. If you do not want to use your insurance, do not have insurance, or do not have out-of-network benefits, we will discuss our full session fee costs and may offer limited sliding scale availability based on a number of factors. Therapy should be affordable and accessible, and we try our best to provide services to a diverse population.
