Getting to know Dr. Grace Ecton

I work with adults navigating grief and loss, mood and anxiety challenges, trauma (including physical, sexual, combat, and racial trauma), substance use, and identity-related concerns like gender, sexuality, and self-esteem. I also provide pre-operative assessments for transgender and gender-diverse patients. As a clinical psychology doctoral fellow at Bryant West Psychology, I offer in-person sessions in Midtown, NYC, and online therapy throughout New York State.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our sessions, you’ll find a compassionate and attentive space. Therapy may include reflection, skill-building, and constructive challenge—all at a pace that feels right for you. We’ll explore not only your current struggles but also patterns in relationships, recurring emotions, and underlying dynamics that may shape your experience. I use a collaborative, personalized approach that integrates relational psychodynamic and existential therapies with evidence-based methods like CBT, DBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This combination allows us to address both immediate concerns and deeper patterns, helping you better understand yourself and your connections to others.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll work on easing distress, building coping skills, and exploring deeper patterns that shape your experience. Whether focusing on emotions, relationships, or self-understanding, my goal is to help you live a more connected, meaningful, and grounded life. My work has been shaped by clinical training at Rutgers University, Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, and the Brooklyn VA Medical Center, where I supported people navigating acute distress, recovery, and major life transitions. These experiences have deepened my commitment to creating an affirming and inclusive space for people across the full spectrum of age, race, gender, ability, and culture.

Ongoing session: $160-350 for 53 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

Bryant West Psychology works with most insurance plans (whether in-network or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle-free, and paper-work-free for you. We can bill your insurance for you, and you can pay us any deductibles and co-pays by credit card or through Zelle, as well as the old-fashioned ways, such as check or cash. In-Network: Our clinicians are providers in the following networks: Aetna and its affiliated insurances (Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna, Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Scope - Aetna, Meritain, Nippon, Trustmark ) and student health insurance at NYU, Columbia, New School, and Fordham. Your insurance company sets our fees, co-pays, and deductibles, making our services more affordable when you're in-network. We will discuss this with you. Out-of-Network: We bill all insurance companies, such as United Health Care, Oxford, Cigna, Blue Cross/Shield, and Beacon (to name a few). Depending on your plan, your insurance may pay up to 80% of our fee (and sometimes more). We will do our best to work with you to make payment arrangements that won't break the bank—that is, your bank.
