Hello, I'm Guilherme, a Licensed Professional Counselor originally from Brazil. I completed my undergraduate studies in Clinical Psychology in South America and earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in the United States, where I've been living since 2008. My journey in mental health began as a bilingual Functional Family Therapist, serving high-conflict families in Boulder County for four years before I opened my private practice in 2015. I have been a passionate student of Somatic Experiencing (SE) since 2017, and I incorporate SE principles into my practice with a down-to-earth, relational, and compassionate style. My approach is deeply rooted in supporting and guiding clients to resolve the core issues that hold them back from living more vital and wholesome lives. I believe that effective psychotherapy should facilitate shifts in awareness, creating temporarily modified states of consciousness. This belief was shaped by my two and a half years of work in the Peruvian Amazon jungle, where I worked as a psychotherapist in a rehabilitation center for addictions. This center combined modern medicine and psychotherapy with ancient shamanic practices, allowing me to witness and experience profound and positive changes in clients' lives. In the United States, I have had the extraordinary opportunity to collaborate with the Integrative Psychiatry Center and their team. With nearly 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, I bring a wealth of knowledge and training in Gestalt therapy, Mindfulness, Functional Family Therapy, and Wilderness therapy to my practice. I am currently progressing through certification training in both Somatic Experiencing and MDMA-assisted psychotherapy.
