Getting to know Ian Noel

Note: Ian Noel is a pre-licensed Psychotherapist working under the supervision of Anthony Freire and Alexander Badillo. He holds a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University. Our assumptions and beliefs about the world inform our feelings, which in turn influence our behavior. Many of these assumptions, however, are not entirely our own or even within our conscious awareness. These beliefs come from our parents, communities, negative or traumatic experiences, or even a less developed version of ourselves. Living a life that does not reflect our values as unique individuals with singular world experiences often results in inner conflict that can negatively spill outward into our romantic, familial, and professional relationships. Taking the time to explore which thoughts belong to our present authentic selves and which are artifacts of others' perceptions and experiences is one of the most important gifts an individual can give to themselves. My psychotherapeutic approach is strongly rooted in Systems and Psychodynamic theory. I value exploring how our environments at all stages of development have influenced and shaped our understanding of others and ourselves, thus affecting how we function today. I also bring important considerations of multiculturalism and historical trauma into this analysis. Specializing in trauma, I have an in-depth understanding of PTSD, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, alcohol and substance abuse (including dual diagnosis), LGBTQ+ experiences, grief and loss, and major life transitions. I value creating a nonjudgmental space where individuals feel comfortable disconnecting from the tasks and stressors of daily life, taking an hour to look inward fully and comfortably, and collaborating to bring compassion and self-understanding to the present.
