Irene Miller, LMSW

Irene Miller, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
As an LMSW, I see patients at NYC Affirmative Psychotherapy, a community-focused, sliding scale psychotherapy practice in New York State. We offer online remote psychotherapy. Our mission is simple: providing affirming psychotherapy in a sustainable way to the community. By affirmative, we mean that we do not view individuals from the perspective of being defective or needing to be fixed. We firmly believe that change is possible and that we, as human beings, grow in relationships where an empathic and attuned other bears witness to our struggles. You are not alone. Let's take the next step together. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the City University of New York, Hunter College, and a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm an experienced practitioner working with a range of folks for a number of issues. I have developed expertise working with folks who are struggling with : LGBTQIA+ issues, chronic illness, relationship issues,self-esteem, harm reduction, codependency, family conflict, life transitions, immigration trauma, anxiety, grief, and depression. By booking an appointment with me you are agreeing to the specific day and time each week. Please note, I don't work with folks at a different frequency example: bi-weekly or once per month.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you book an appointment with me, my office will reach out to you for some additional information. If you provided your insurance information they will check your benefits before your first session. When your appointment is confirmed, you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to our first video appointment. You will also need to complete some intake paperwork before our session, which will tell me a little bit about yourself and go over all of our policies. Please note, I only work with folks on a weekly basis.
