Isabel Stratton, LCSW

Isabel Stratton, LCSW

Psychotherapist
VA
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who provides a supportive, collaborative space for clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves or others. Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, major life transitions, or the long-term effects of stress. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and practical. I integrate evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and DBT-informed skills to help clients better understand their patterns, regulate emotions, and create meaningful change. Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you — it’s about helping you feel more stable, empowered, and connected in your daily life. I value authenticity and believe therapy works best when clients feel safe, respected, and truly heard. We move at your pace, with care and intention, while also working toward concrete goals that support your growth and healing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe my style as calm, grounding, and direct in a supportive way. I will meet you where you are, but I won’t rush the process or minimize what you’re experiencing. Sessions are collaborative — we’ll work together to understand what’s coming up for you and identify tools that feel realistic and helpful. I provide therapy via secure telehealth and am currently licensed to see clients located in Virginia. I accept many insurance plans and also offer private-pay options, with a limited sliding scale available based on need.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first few sessions, we focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, your history, and what you’d like to change or feel differently. We’ll talk through your goals and begin identifying patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. Ongoing sessions are collaborative and tailored to your needs. Some sessions may focus on processing emotions or past experiences, while others are more skills-based and practical. I integrate approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and DBT-informed strategies to help with emotional regulation, coping, and insight. Therapy is paced intentionally, with an emphasis on safety, clarity, and meaningful progress over time.
