Isabella Lajara, MA

Isabella Lajara, MA

Psychotherapist
159 Bleecker St Fl 2, New York, NY
Many people come to therapy feeling disconnected: from their bodies, their emotions, or the parts of themselves they've had to set aside for others. I work with clients to help them reconnect with themselves, so they can move through life feeling more grounded and whole. My approach to therapy is holistic, as together we pay attention to how your culture, identity, and family system shape the way you experience the world. I'm especially drawn to working with trauma, that persistent feeling of being on edge, unsafe, or bracing for something to go wrong. I also work closely with life transitions, the process of adjusting to change while grieving versions of yourself you're leaving behind.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer therapy in both English and Spanish, and bring a multicultural lens to my work with clients. I hold a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from The City College of New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hunter College. My clinical experience is in community mental health, working with culturally diverse clients, from adolescence through adulthood, navigating anxiety, trauma, sexual violence, depression, identity exploration, relational dynamics, and life transitions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our work together, I utilize psychodynamic and trauma-informed approaches. We focus on how earlier relationships and experiences may be shaping your current patterns, while honoring your autonomy and the strengths you already bring. As we move at your pace, my hope is that you'll build the confidence to take control and make choices that align with your needs.
