Jacqueline Tartell, LCSW

Jacqueline Tartell, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
Jacqueline Tartell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently providing teletherapy throughout New York state. She earned both her Bachelor's degree and Master's in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Jacqueline mainly works with young professionals and students in their 20s and 30s. They tend to be bright, conscientious, and thoughtful, but they struggle under the surface. Most of her clients come in for help with anxiety, upsetting or traumatic memories, or an overall lack of fulfillment in life. However, she works with a range of other general mental health issues. For some of her clients, there's a sense of being in a "quarter life crisis;" they're not totally satisfied with a particular area of life (work, dating, self-esteem, etc.), and they're reassessing where they want to be. They may find it easiest to put their job or other people first, rather than acknowledging their own needs and wishes. But they've realized it's not working for them, and they're ready to do the hard work to create change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Jacqueline believes it's important for clients to gain some concrete tools and skills to meet their goals, while also learning a lot about themselves over time. She takes an active, personalized approach, pulling from different treatment modalities (mainly CBT, ACT, EMDR, psychodynamic) to best meet the needs of each client. She collaborates with her clients to help them understand and change unwanted patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. She uses EMDR for treatment of trauma, which can come from any life event that was upsetting, stressful, or threatening.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

****Within 24 hours of requesting your therapy appointment, please check your email to provide your insurance, payment method, and contact information. Verifying your insurance is necessary to hold the appointment and will ensure you are aware of your cost responsibility prior to the session. Thank you!***** The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to mutually explore fit. I'll do an in-depth clinical assessment, to see what your needs are and to determine whether they're a good match for my skill-set. We'll discuss your goals for therapy, as well as what treatment interventions we may use to achieve those goals. If either of us decides we're not a good match, I'll aim to provide you with at least 3 personalized referrals to different therapists. If we do decide we're a good fit to continue working together, we'll discuss a time to meet for ongoing sessions.
