Sometimes clients feel ambivalent about entering therapy. The concept of therapy may be associated with anxiety, vulnerability, and uncertainty. As a therapist, I aim to provide a supportive and comfortable environment toward client engagement to account for these fears and create a space where clients can feel motivated to invest in themselves. Utilizing a client-centered approach, I prioritize actively listening in session and engaging in collaboration to establish an individualized plan for overcoming personal challenges. Jackie is an empathetic, sensitive, and highly attuned therapist. She believes that establishing a strong rapport and facilitating an emotionally safe environment are requisites for building a sound therapeutic relationship. Clients would describe Jackie as an open-minded and committed therapist, who embraces the process of self-exploration and is a believer in the capacity for change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Jackie believes that gaining insight into our past experiences enables us to understand our current reality and thought processes. Through gaining awareness and uncovering aspects of ourselves, Jackie feels confident clients are able to feel more in control, more motivated to problem-solve, and encouraged to make positive changes in their lives. An ongoing goal for Jackie as a therapist is understanding her clients and what they are experiencing, striving to create an atmosphere for clients to feel acknowledged and seen. In working with Jackie, clients are able to identify and implement their own strengths as well as enhance feelings of self-acceptance, value, and resilience.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Jackie holds the belief that a salient aspect of achieving self-understanding and therapeutic goals is through gaining insight into the underlying causes of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. When engaging with clients, Jackie strives to process clients’ feelings and emotions with them, both past and present, while also providing tools and strategies for clients to access in the moment. Through Jackie’s varied experience in the field, she has cultivated a passion for supporting individuals in navigating the complex challenges of adulthood. Jackie has experience working with clients encountering anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, poor body image, grief and loss, complex trauma, interpersonal conflicts in addition to those experiencing deep historic emotional pain and crisis. Her therapeutic style encompasses multiple approaches including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and relational theory. However, Jackie values and emphasizes tailoring treatment to align with clients goals and circumstances as opposed to a one-size fits all approach.
