Jake Dann-Soury, LCSW

Psychotherapist
600 3rd Ave, 2nd Fl, New York, NY
I help adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigate anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, and self-esteem concerns, drawing on more than 10 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The people I work best with are those who want to better understand themselves, break unhelpful patterns, strengthen their relationships, and feel more confident managing life's challenges. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply looking for meaningful change, I provide a space to identify strategies, build healthier coping skills, and work toward becoming the version of yourself you want to be. Therapy works best, I believe, when patients feel heard and understood without judgment. My goal is to be a collaborative, trusted partner who meets you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be. Together, we can look more closely at the challenges you're facing, recognize the patterns that may be holding you back, and develop tools for meaningful change. I look forward to helping you build greater confidence, deepen your relationships, and create a healthier, more fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

DISCLAIMER: We are not able to accept Medicare or Medicaid plans at this time. My path as a therapist has been shaped by more than 10 years of working with people through different stages of life and a wide range of challenges. These experiences have reinforced my belief that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I bring curiosity, compassion, and a down-to-earth perspective to each session, taking the time to understand who you are as a person, not just the challenges that brought you to therapy, so we can create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself while working toward meaningful and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy with me is hands-on and individualized, drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) while also exploring the experiences and patterns that may be contributing to your current challenges. I believe it should be a space where you feel understood, while also being challenged to develop new perspectives and make real changes. Growing your self-awareness and confidence, along with the skills you can use to create lasting change in your everyday life, is something I'm passionate about helping you achieve. That looks like a nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being yourself, using these same tools to make sense of your thoughts and emotions, develop coping skills, and move toward that change. My style is warm, direct, and down-to-earth, because therapy should feel like a partnership, tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals, balancing encouragement with the room you need to grow.
