Hello, I'm Jane, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona, as well as a Licensed School Counselor and a Registered Nurse in Colorado. My journey in mental health began with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1985, where I specialized in psychiatric nursing with a focus on child and adolescent psychiatry and serious mental illness. I later earned a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus on Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College in 2009, and a Master's degree in School Counseling from Prescott College in 2013. Additionally, I hold post-graduate certificates in Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a trauma resolution therapy. My background also includes a second Bachelor's degree in Holistic Nutrition, which I received in 2009. My primary therapeutic orientation is person-centered and experiential. I firmly believe that each individual has the resources within them to heal, grow, and evolve. My role as a therapist is to help you access those resources to heal the past, enjoy the present, and maximize the future. I strive to understand you as fully and clearly as possible, suggest paths of insight and healing, and ensure that the therapy experience is safe and manageable, especially for trauma survivors. I also believe in the power of facilitating true change in the brain and nervous system and tapping into the body as a place of knowing and resourcing. I tend to be a very practical therapist, often suggesting tools and skills for you to practice between sessions to strengthen the work we do together. Throughout my career, I have worked in various clinical settings, including addiction recovery centers, therapeutic boarding schools, outpatient clinics, school districts, wilderness settings, and private practice with individuals, couples, and families of all ages.
