“Jasmine was a great therapist. She was always on time, quick to respond to emails, and generally very communicative. She was also incredibly warm and easy to talk to. She offered me a lot of resources (like worksheets and questionnaires) for dealing with my anxiety that were really helpful. I referred back to them a lot when I was panicking or trying to deal with sudden heavy emotions. Jasmine was also really affirming and always willing to listen. I really recommend working with her! She's awesome.”

Getting to know Jasmine Rivera-Hackley

I'm an ardent supporter of access to mental health care. I know that for some, seeking out therapy can still be a taboo subject, so my goal is to ensure that all clients feel empowered and safe in the space we provide. I have always been committed to serving others and social justice. I am passionate about supporting survivors of childhood sexual trauma and facilitate a group specifically for Black women. I also enjoy helping those struggling with depression, anxiety, race and identity issues, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, and social anxiety. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and utilize various theoretical frameworks to best support my clients based on their individual needs. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in African-American Studies, which enriches my understanding of the cultural and social contexts that impact my clients' lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a proud Afro-Latina, I understand how the intersections of one’s identity can shape our life experiences and ultimately who we become, as we move through the world. I'm a trauma-informed therapist who has been trained in CBT for Trauma by the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I offer a holistic approach tailored to your specific needs. I believe in the transformative power that therapy can have on an individual’s life and provide a space that is open, compassionate, and collaborative. You’re the expert of your life and I’m just here to support and facilitate in your healing process and reaching your personal goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is person-centered and collaborative. I desire to meet my clients where they’re at, whether they’ve experienced therapeutic services before or its their very first time meeting with a therapist. I offer a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental space where we’re able to address issues that may be impeding on their ability to function in their daily lives.
