Psychotherapist
1401 Potter Dr., Ste 103, Colorado Springs, CO
Hi there, I'm Jeff. If you're experiencing heightened anxiety, increased depression, irritability or anger, nightmares or flashbacks, or other symptoms of unresolved past trauma, the powerful somatic (body-based) methods I employ may be useful for you. Many people are unaware of how many of their current struggles are rooted in past trauma. Resolving and healing some of the effects of overwhelming past experiences is one of the fastest and most effective ways to promote and create positive change for yourself. I specialize in working with childhood and adult trauma and PTSD, and the many painful and challenging effects that it can have in our daily lives. I use somatic methods—methods that work with the deeper parts of the mind that are more closely connected to our bodily experience. No one wakes up, looks outside and says, 'I think it looks like a good day for a flashback,' or 'I think I'll spend the day being horribly anxious the moment I leave the house.' These kinds of reactions are usually not fully in our conscious control! But there are highly effective ways to bring resolution and healing to them. This is what I work with my clients to do. Healing is possible. I use a variety of methods, including Internal Family Systems, EMDR, somatic psychology, Trauma Dynamics, and others in which I have extensive training and experience. But in my experience, healing is not only about using effective methods; it's also about connection—building a connection with a kind and supportive therapist and deepening your connection with yourself. I enjoy interacting with and getting to know a wide variety of people, and I feel privileged to be able to be a part of your healing process. If you are interested in engaging in trauma therapy, or even if you would just like to learn more about how it might work and whether it's right for you at this time, please feel free to contact me. I'd be glad to spend some time answering your questions or scheduling an appointment.
